On the last day of 2023, I find myself back in West Philly. I moved to this neighborhood 15 years ago today so I’m putting everything into perspective—going backwards to move forwards. One year ago, my life felt more rooted and I celebrated the start of a new year in Salem. A lot has changed since then and, after a tumultuous year, I am reflecting and conspiring. I’m thinking about my new life and my new hopes and dreams for 2024. And I’m thinking about Gaza and dreaming of a world, once and for all, beyond empire and nation states. May we live to see it in our lifetimes.
